Wunderbar Together PopUp Tour at Germany Week in Chicago

From April 26 to May 5, 2019, Germany Week turned Daley Plaza in downtown Chicago, IL, into an innovative showcase of Germany and diverse celebration of German-American friendship. As part of the Year of German-American Friendship, Germany Week invited visitors to discover Germany anew through diverse entertainment, interactive exhibits, as well as cultural and corporate events.

One of the highlights was the launch of the PopUp Tour, the official roadshow of the Wunderbar Together initiative. Supported by the Federation of German Industries (BDI), the PopUp Tour emphasizes the important contribution German business makes to the U.S. economy through direct investment, advanced manufacturing, and high-quality job creation. Chicagoans and tourists alike were invited to engage in dialogue with German Ambassador Emily Haber and representatives of German companies, iBASF, SAP, Siemens AG und Allianz. In interactive exhibitions visitors could learn about new megatrends in the chemical industry or score a goal in a virtual soccer game. On various panel discussions, experts and industry representatives debated about the future of work, workforce development, climate change and sustainable living, as well as the impact of digitalization. All underscored the importance of partnerships, investment, and transatlantic cooperation to tackle future challenges together. The partners of the Wunderbar Together PopUp Tour are BASF, BMW Group, Siemens AG, Bayer AG, Daimler AG, Evonik Industries AG, SAP, Schaeffler, Allianz, Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, Lufthansa and Lanxess.
