Business Representation in Changing Political Landscapes: Washington and Berlin


During a Breakout session at the Transatlantic Business Conference, Daniel Andrich, President and CEO, Representative of German Industry and Trade and Wolfgang Dierker, National Executive for GE in Germany and Austria, discussed challenges and opportunities for businesses on both sides of the Atlantic after the 2016 US elections and the recent elections in Germany. The discussion was moderated by Andreas Horchler (German Radio).

They discussed trade policy, tax policy, the challenges of the labor markets, and the interplay and differing priorities between Congress and the US Administration.

A discussion of the societal forces that are shaping the political landscape in both the US, Germany, and Europe, and giving rise to new political movements followed.
