About Us
The Representative of German Industry and Trade (RGIT) is the liaison office of the Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry (DIHK) and the Federation of German Industries (BDI) in Washington, D.C. RGIT represents the interests of the German business community vis-à-vis the U.S. Administration, the Congress and the international organizations based in Washington. We report regularly on economically significant developments as well as legislative activities in the U.S. RGIT cooperates with the German American Chambers of Commerce in New York, Atlanta, Chicago, and San Francisco. Research for RGIT publications (Washington News, Im Blickpunkt, etc.) in German and English.

Conduct issue tracking on US trade, energy, environmental, labor, and tax policy.

Assist with event management and special projects.

Attend, monitor, and report on events of interest to the office in the DC area.


An interest in politics, economic, energy, labor, tax policy or US corporate law.

Currently pursuing or recently completed a graduate or a law degree.

Desirable areas: International Business, International Relations (esp. trade policy), Communications, Corporate Law.

Intermediate to advanced proficiency in German.

Intermediate to advance proficiency in English (for German students).

Ability to adapt to frequently changing priorities.

Length of Internship
2-4 months.
